There Is Nothing But A Veil (early 1990's)

There is nothing but a veil between us, transparent,
luxurious. Shoulder to shoulder, hip to hip we rock we
boulder and fold silken scarves to patterns garments
things to roll over, ignore, the floor, its coldness
hard and slick is wide and square the bare tile is filed
with your back to the black belly to silk (you can swim in
your milk) and drip butter down skin from a spoon meant
for ice cream in summer, sun, cold headache
all crunchy and pelt me with hail
that I eat through this veil
this luxurious veil.
