A cat with Cheshire eyes
She had purred, "Eyes can detach"
Now they are untethered aren't they
Detached untethered eyes
Cheshire eyes, nothing but -
But I haven't found the button
Haven't found the button yet
And I thought myself the only one
Who had a Cheshired soul
And so treasured all the other souls
Around ahead my own
But ah, arrives a cat with
Cheshire window mirrored eyes
And I see spots
Re-emerging on my defunct leopard soul
A connection still untethered
A detachment holding firm
I haven't found the button
But I'll recognize its shape
Some morning as I shave
