We died at such a place
In tomorrows dirty pool
We hoped that we could trace
Our lineage away from fools
And speak of higher plains
Not tainted by chagrin
And drink from future rains
Quench our thirst without a sin
But we died at such a place
After gulping time like drink
And I thought I saw your face
In reflecting presents sink
So I bent my head in reverence
Into the murky deep of now
And tried to grasp deliverance
Without touching you somehow
And we died at such a place
In the futures swirling deep
We drowned with such a grace
Even the Great White had to weep
We died at such a place
Singing the gospel of the drowned
And as we sank we drank the space
And floated to the ground
And licked it dry.
